We added Lassen Volcanic National Park, located in northern California, at the end of our travels. Unfortunately our time was limited since we had to hightail it to Sacramento for the NACIS conference (map lovers unite!), but we did manage to squeeze in two hikes: King's Falls and Bumpass Hell (a geothermal area very reminiscent of Yellowstone). This park was surprisingly beautiful. I highly recommend it.
Fun Fact: Lassen Peak, the southernmost volcano in the Cascades, erupted from 1914-17. Because of these eruptions, the area was designated as a national park. The next volcanic eruption in the Cascades didn't come until 1980 when Mt St Helen's blew.
