When we first moved to DC, I purchased a book called 'eat.shop.washington dc' which is filled with locally owned establishments. The first two we tried were not disappointing (Georgetown Cupcakes and Dolcezza) so Friday night we headed into Alexandria in search of another. Mark and I had dinner at Eamonn's, a Dublin chipper. Although the fish & chips weren't as good as one's we've had in England, they were still good and worth the trek.

Afterwards we walked down King St to check out the local shops. There were several restaurants we passed that looked fantastic, so I'm sure we'll be returning.

And, one thing I've noticed about DC is there is no shortage of Obama souvenirs (I realize the above picture needs to be rotated). However my personal favorite political trinket thus far is the Hilary toilet bowl brush.
