Mark and I have whined and complained about having nothing to do before, but I don't think we realized what this truly felt like until this weekend. Mark's been working in West Virginia lately and on Friday evening I joined him.
On Saturday we went to Morgantown, which was 30 miles north of our hotel. This town is home to University of West Virginia and college towns tend to be great for unique shops and restaurants. However, we exhausted these in about five minutes and turned our attention to summiting the city. We climbed up a hill, then climbed down...woohoo.
Day 2 brought us new hope for a grand WV adventure. We planned to find some local state parks and go hiking. This should have been easy, especially since we're in the mountains...
Unfortunately the first state park was closed. This seemed odd since it was 1 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon...
After the second state park, we called off the hunt and went to dinner (at 4:30) at a delicious local Italian place. Then, because there was nothing else to do, we drove over 30 miles to the closest theater and watched 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
