A Family Hodgepodge

At one point last Saturday, while visiting my family in Alabama, we all sat in my parent's front yard and stared at their house. I'm not exactly sure why...

but it seemed like a good moment to set the camera on the front steps and take a casual family photo...

In my parent's neighborhood is a playground that Jack loves. Especially the swing...

After swinging and sliding, Jack started to throw dirt. Every time he threw a handful in our direction we laughed and thanked him. Talk about sending mixed messages. The boy's going to be really confused on the day he throws dirt in a stranger's direction and doesn't get a prompt and friendly "thank you" in return...

Afterward we went inside and Jack parked his cars. He takes this very seriously...

All while my brother ate a ridiculous amount of ice cream. This is bowl one of two...um Pete, it my be time to get your cholesterol checked out...

And to wrap things up, here is a little home movie. Jack calls my dad "poppa" and at 11 seconds, my heart just melts with his excited hello's as my dad walked across the field in our direction.

And that's a brief look into our time in Alabama. Much too short a trip but definitely lovely.

Next up...Tennessee.

Maybe he will start a trend and soon dirt throwing will be the international greeting?
