#6, Coyote Wall & the Labyrinth, Columbia River Gorge (03/19/11)
A couple of weeks ago we learned a little trick - the farther east you drive, the greater your chances of escaping the rain and dreariness of Portland. So for 30 glorious minutes, we had sun. And for another several hours, it didn't rain. Instead we just skirted the line between the dark rain clouds of Portland and the blue-ish skies of eastern Oregon {see picture below}.
In all seriousness though, this hike was fantastic. We walked through wide open meadows, found hidden waterfalls, skirted along beautiful streams, and Mark marveled at all the large basalt/rock formations scattered about. This hike was one of our favorites thus far.

Here is an excerpt from our hiking book. If this doesn't fill you with sunny cheer, I don't know what will: "Weather forecasts are notoriously off the mark during spring, so if you aren't absolutely, positively sure it will be clear, plan for 50-something degrees and drizzling till June."
June!!!

What a cool picture.
Well if you think about it, March is almost over. And if you don't count nights, or days that you work, then it's really like June is a week or so away. What a gorgeous hike!
