Elephant Parade

One of the things I'm going to miss about DC is the completely unexpected surprise. For example, at 4:00 this afternoon my cube-neighbor Sam got a call that an elephant parade would be outside our building in 30 minutes (surprise!). Okay, so it wasn't actually a parade of elephants, but instead an Indian wedding. The groom rode on an elephant, a random man and small boy rode a white horse, and lots of people danced behind an Enterprise van with speakers (India is nothing if not a land of contradictions)...very cool. Days like these are the reason I always keep a camera in my bag (the one day I forgot the camera, Obama's motorcade drove past during one of my lunchtime walks - bummer).
